Priscilla Algarin Muriel

Priscilla Algarin Muriel is a faithful servant of Jesus Christ and homeschool mom of six wonderful children. She received her BA in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice from Sacred Heart University in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 2006.Priscilla and her husband Gilberto live in Central Florida where, as a family, they dedicate their free time to building an urban homestead, amongst other community projects.
Priscilla and her husband serve as leaders in their homeschool community and run a bilingual support group called Central Florida Bilingual Home Educators since 2017 where they mentor families in home education, hold family support meetings, and participate in several missionary projects to help families receive free curriculum and school supplies to begin their home education journey.

Cristina Alvarez is a wife and homeschool mom of three children. Her true love in education is science. She enjoyed taking many science courses while earning her bachelor degree of science in psychology from Palm Beach Atlantic University. She is now working toward her teaching certification in science. Cristina has a passion for teaching about everything that God has created and sees science as the artwork of God, a mere glimpse of His mind. She is a firm believer that science comes from God, and must be viewed with the lens of the Bible. Science may not come easily to everyone, however Cristina doesn’t want for her students to be intimidated. She wants to help them understand more about this beautiful world that our Lord has created.
Brittnye Arthur graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor’s in Secondary English Education. Since then, she has added Exceptional Student Education and Reading to her teaching certificate along with a certification from the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education. Her interests, in order, include Jesus, family, literature, and writing. Throughout 10 years of teaching experience in both public and private school, she’s discovered that proficiency in reading and writing is instrumental for future success. She enthusiastically helps students hone their literacy skills to equip them for college and beyond. Brittnye lives with her husband and four daughters.
Teri’s students consistently report significant improvements in their exam scores. The largest portion of Teri’s students come to her as the result of referrals from parents and/or students who have experienced great success with her. She receives exceptional evaluations from students who report that her teaching strategies and style simplify the test material and provide practical tactics that allow them to achieve significantly higher scores. Teri is convinced that every student is capable of achieving significant improvement in his or her standardized test scores. With passion, experience, and wisdom, she helps even the most doubtful and timid student achieve genuine success.

Giovana Cavarretta is a passionate follower of Jesus Christ and a wife and mother of three. She has been blessed to be homeschooling her children since they started preschool. She was born and raised in Lima, Perú and moved to the United States as a teenager. Having experienced firsthand how difficult it can be to learn another language, she desires to help students learn to communicate in Spanish while having fun in the process. Mrs. Cavarretta is an experienced Spanish teacher and has enjoyed teaching Spanish to homeschool students of all ages for the past 10 years. She attended Florida Atlantic University and graduated with Honors with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work.
Michelle Nowack graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering. For the past 15 years she has provided engineering services & project management for multiple companies both private and government. During this time, she has always loved tutoring in math. She has helped students from elementary school to college succeed in their math classes, specializing in helping those with whom math does not come easily. Currently, Michelle lives in Raleigh, NC with her husband and two cats, where she enjoys reading, natural health, traveling, and studying God’s Word.

Silvia Villalobos has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Florida Atlantic University and taught high school math at Spanish River High School in Boca Raton for five years. The Lord has blessed her and her husband with four children and five grandchildren. Silvia serves at her church teaching the women’s Bible study and she has developed the children’s curriculum for ages 4 to 10. She has a passion for teaching the scriptures and mathematics and she wants her students to enjoy learning and to see how everything (including math) points to our Creator and Savior.
Donna-Kay Davis has been an educator for over 25 years with experience teaching preschool through high school kids at her church, in co-ops, and in her home. With the help of the Lord Jesus, a great husband, and HEED, Donna-Kay has homeschooled all four of her kids (two daughters, two sons) from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Using non-traditional learning techniques, Donna-Kay tries to make math fun and understandable for the not-so-mathy student while helping kids see how math is practical for their everyday lives. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Miami Christian College (now Trinity International University), a Master’s Degree in Social Work with an emphasis in children and families from Florida International University, and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Currently she works at her church as the Preschool Ministry Assistant. She loves the Lord Jesus Christ, William (her husband of over 27 years), her family, and kids of all ages. She also likes dogs, coffee, and chocolate.
Rose Shaffer serves with her husband, Pastor David Shaffer at Victory Church in Boca Raton, FL for over 15 years. Rose supports the work of the church in several capacities, working with children and providing executive leadership for the ministry. Teaching kids is her passion. To encourage and build up the families in their faith through creativity and fun is the best way to describe her model of teaching. She has also served as the Vice President of Boca Homeschoolers for five years and now serves as a Support Group Leader for Parents Educating Children. With over 15 years of experience homeschooling her two sons, and partnering with families to build up their children’s faith, she is excited to come alongside HEED families to be a part of their homeschool journey. She has been married to her husband, David for 28 years. They have two sons. David (21) who studies at Palm Beach Atlantic University and Dylan (17) who is a junior at HEED. David homeschooled since the 4th Grade and Dylan has been homeschooling since pre-school. Her biggest accomplishment has been to see her children serve and love the Lord and homeschooling has been a big part of molding and shaping their faith.
Michelle is originally from Nebraska. She received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Northwest Missouri State University. She met her husband in St. Louis and then moved to Florida in 2001. She has homeschooled her 2 children since kindergarten. Michelle has been Catie Frates full time science assistant at HEED for the last three years. Currently she is teaching 6th grade science STEM science and forensic science at HEED Adventures. Additionally she is one of two teachers leading the weekly American history interactive Adventures. One of her greatest joys has been being a part of the HEED team.
Anne Holly has a Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Fredonia in Recombinant Gene Technology and minor in Chemistry. She was on staff at Boca Raton Christian School from 2008-2020 where she taught science classes including AP Chemistry and Physics(H) and served as the advisor to the high school Robotics team. She is also currently teaching at Sylvan Learning Center and has tutored many students in both math and science including ACT/SAT test prep. Anne loves to teach especially the complexity of natural science and the beautiful intricacy of creation and how this directly reveals the wisdom of the Creator. Anne is married with four children and two grandchildren. She has lived in Florida since 1988 and enjoys mission trips, Bible studies, tennis and being with her family.
Jesus studied Mechanical Engineering at Florida Atlantic University. Jesus was born and raised in South Florida after his parents moved here from Lima, Peru in 1985. He serves as a Youth Pastor in his home church, Iglesia Hispana of Boca Raton, for over 15 years. In 2013 he married his wife, Melisa, and together they have had the privilege of traveling to Peru and assisting Missionaries to preach the gospel to underdeveloped regions and schools. Through his travels around the world, he developed a deep passion for history. His goal is to excite the future generations to study and experience history in our country and around the world in order to reach others for Christ. Jesus and Melisa have two children, Jonathan and Mia. He has a a passion for his two favorite hobbies: photography and soccer!
